Pre-Kindergarten

Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten at the Washington School!

Pre-Kindergarten provides rich content through seven modules of study as part of an integrated curriculum. Each module through the year offers children the opportunity to participate in whole group, small group, and center-based learning. This is linked to early learning standards that focus on social emotional learning, language and literacy, self-help, fine and gross motor skills, math, science and technology, history and social science, as well as the arts. 

At the Washington school, there is one integrated Pre-K classroom that serves children ages three through five with and without disabilities, in an effort to provide experiences for all learners at their age and stage of development. The classroom of up to 16 children is supported by a teacher and a paraprofessional. Other support staff may be present in the classroom for the needs of select children. 

Integrated Pre-K is a half day program and two sessions are held each day Monday-Friday. Pre-K classrooms start the Tuesday after Labor Day and run through the last full day of school on the Lowell Public Schools calendar. On early release days, Pre-K is not in session and children do not attend school. Additionally, when there is a delayed opening due to inclement weather, no Pre-K sessions are held. 

At the Washington School, sessions are scheduled as follows:

AM Pre-K: 8:30-11:00

PM Pre-K: 12:20-2:40
